Thumbs up Username Change Requests

ScriptLance will now allow users to request a username change. If approved, your username will be updated across the whole site, including account login, projects, bids, messages, reviews and support tickets. There will be a $10 processing fee for this service when approved, but we will deny any requests that we find inappropriate.

It will not be possible to escape bad reviews, debts, or blacklists, because all that info will be carried over to your new account.

Simply contact support if you would like to request a username change.

Yet another great feature!

I was just wondering the criterion for it. Also, is the processing fee refundable?

Another new update, thanks alot Rene for making scriptlance more and more userfriendly. Although I believe that NO senior programmer who has spent years and earned his name over the scriptlance would like to change his username but YES the juniors members may opt to change their username.

NO removal of bad reviews and processing fee for this service is really good to discourage a user to frequently change his username.

Also I would like to mention that I can see that scriptlance is now taking less time in transfering the money to card which is deeply appriciated.

I have a question:

What happens to our existing username in case we opt for a new one?

It will be reserved so no one else can register it.

What would the profile and feedback page look like for the old username ? Will it show a blank page OR will it redirect to the appropriate page of the NEW username?

You didn't get it right, my friend. You can CHANGE your username, not book or reserve multiple usernames like you do with domain names !

Hth.

It would just say the account doesn't exist. But I suppose we could setup a redirect if you request it.

welli change my username from bereczandor to cmsguru..then decide that a more appropiate name would be cmssystems..then allcms, then bestcms and so on.

if the username change will be allowed once, then why not multiple times? and thru that i have 'reserved' all of the above ones, my friend

^^^ Exactly...
The idea of allowing users to change their usernames does not seem to be a great one.

I dnt think people would be interested in keep changing their usernames. Its like just an option for the scriptlance users that they may request to change their username for some reason.

Like suppose if I expand my business and open a company tommorrow, I will be able to change my username to my company name or suppose one day I and Rene becomes partner, I will be able to rename my user name to "Nazu&Rene". So dnt say its not a good update, its a new oppertunity if you think.

Many thanks Rene and yes please put in the feature of redirecting from older profile to new profile with different username.

Well, I think a dead page on the earlier username will NOT work for most of us. It's like switching to a new domain name without setting up a redirect.

Just as we can't imagine ScriptLance.com to be moved to ScriptLance.net _without_ setting up a redirect, is unimaginable, same goes for usernames

now to be rude:

it really is an awsome system. we will definetly work much better with this new feature. thank you so much

but how about a more professional marketplace? where you can bid a bit more that $10-$50? like $100-$1000. you all should thank when sl will actually achieve that!

yes, great update indeed... i have 100 hard earned feedbacks mostly for 'fix it for IE', lol, almost 2 years passed here. will i be insane to change my username even if i will have to start new life? hardly. Agree with Andor, esolz and many other freelancers who have raised their voice against $10 projects and cheap attitutde in general.
something should be done to inprove quality of work and quality of budgets.
over 3k of users isnt enough, if 95% will be data entry typists.
