1 - How long have you been with ScriptLance? Member since 1/25/2008. ![]() 2 - How do you decide which projects to bid on? I bid on projects based on duration (short-term vs. long-term). I work full time and I am trying out SL to supplement my current income. 3 - Are you consistent when bidding on similar projects, or do you bid based on project budget? So far, I am consistent bidding on similar projects (scope ie. web design, graphic, etc.) Not so much for project budget since I am new here, but even though I am a newbie I do not do projects for free nor bid $5 in exchange for reviews.

![]() 2.I mostly bid on projects which are short term and are within my reach. 3.I follow consistency while bidding, I've set price for words per article and I try not to deviate from it .

1. been with scriptlance for almost 8 months now, right after ending my work at a webhosting and development company. why? it pays out better which i really need at this point, you have more free time, you have a choice of directing your effort into a more favored direction, you choose! now why scriptlance, it was just a choice of events, but ive looked into more since then, and i still find scriptlance having the best interface out there, and work is valued just the same, that is when you set the value of it and not let others to influence you with their bids, which gets me to.. 2. most of the times i check the latest projects box at the left of the site, if i dont find something that sounds interesting there i go through all of the active projects, and usually based on title and keywords set a list of projects to look through project budget matters a lot, i usually try to find medium to large ones to have work assured and a higher return, but i do small ones as well when in mood for some fast action ;-) i usually target interesting ones, which involve things i want to learn or are security related or involve interfacing to linux goodies i ALWAYS check the webmaster's reviews, i dont work with ones that i feel are looking for free work and cheap millions project description is top, if its clear and detailed you can usually tell that the webmaster is honest and doesnt want to twist and turn on the work for the same money 3. im very inconsistent on project types targeted, which hurts my business in the short term but gets me more experience in the long term, i am thinking to get specialized into some of the areas where others arent looking and theres a lack of solutions i usually target interesting projects, but they pay good as well, my rate has gone up since ive started here based on the fact that i have more work that i can handle, my rate is still very affordable for the provided service level (i was doing $130/h work at that hosting firm, was getting payed $5 for it, funny eh? where do all the top techs at your favorite hoster comming from, and where their latest miami mansion been built from.., dont put this on your blog, or your choice :-), and i do have a lot of experience prior scriptlance to back me up, kernel level programming and hacking - read it as security research, not breaking down boxes - on linux, all out of passion for your second part of the survey, i dont have any "webmaster" experience here, i had a bit of management experience before but that didnt work out well and i didnt like it, because i was set to impose a set of norms i myself didnt agree with, BUT with freelancing i can be my own boss, and i plan to be a good one since sharing builds up strong teams and i will be in need of one to further evolve, my client base keeps expanding and i am already overwhelmed with the amount of work i have, and so much more i could get if i only had time i guess everyone who keeps up the work will finally get to the same point, and create a business from his name ive also checked your blog, its interesting and the only thing that i see lacking on SL is a proper inter-freelancers engaging environment, we lack a chat room for that after work beer and stuff :-) also, just in case i get coverage and the right person reads this, im also involved in animal protection in my country, romania, the situation is bad here and its a business where stray dogs are inhumanly killed for profits, we need some good no-kill shelters and need to fix this issue humany and would have been fixed ages if not for so many things.. im looking into funding to start this and i can provide more info and what i did till now heres my profile, feedbacks and refid https://www.scriptlance.com/cgi-bin/...rofile=phicore https://www.scriptlance.com/cgi-bin/....cgi?p=phicore http://www.scriptlance.com/?ref=phicore thanks! |

Hi Mike,
My programmer user name is: daliayonis Allow me to answer your questions.. 1 - How long have you been with ScriptLance? Since 7/10/2009 2 - How do you decide which projects to bid on? Based on many factors, among which are: - The usual triangle of time-cost-effort. - Buyer's previous reviews. - New skills that I'm gonna learn through this job. - Number of bidders. Although some people see that it's no use to bid when there's already 30+ previous bidders, yet I see it sometimes as a prove-your-skills challenge! 3 - Are you consistent when bidding on similar projects, or do you bid based on project budget? I've recently put myself a minimum for each kind of projects. If the budget matches this minimum then no problem. Nevertheless, in projects that will give me a chance to acquire a new experience I can be more flexible about my minimum price. Call it tuition fees ![]() Best, Dalia |

Hello!
1 - How long have you been with ScriptLance? About two years. 2 - How do you decide which projects to bid on? looking on the project description + a quick, formal PMB! 3 - Are you consistent when bidding on similar projects, or do you bid based on project budget? Well, may be both! I dont bid on roject that seems doubtful... best ![]() unnimaxx (my SL username is the same) |
