Thumbs down PayPal India Issue

It has been brought to our attention by some members that a change in PayPal India's policy may affect most Indian customers. They may not be able to make deposits or receive withdrawals from ScriptLance.

Quote:
Suddenly, Paypal India has introduced a policy change which renders Paypal totally useless for small time users. As per their new policy, Paypal has stopped allowing personal payments to be sent to or from India, which means PayPal can be used only for business transactions, that too where there’s some proof of delivery for goods or services (such as shipment tracking number/billing address or other such evidences)
See article here.

We are contacting PayPal about this and will make an official annoucement soon if PayPal does not change it's new policy or offer a work-around.

It seems strange that PayPal would want to block all these Indian customers which must represent a large part of its business.

Feel free to discuss and post additional info about this PayPal policy. Thanks.

Hello,

I had withdrawn a sum of $207.5 from my ScriptLance account to PayPal account.

Today, I got a message from PayPal:

Quote:
Hello,
Your payment of 207.5 has been sent back to the sender ('R3N3 Internet Services') of the payment.
We reversed this payment because we have stopped allowing personal payments to be sent to or from India.
If this was a payment for a purchase of goods or services, and not a personal payment, then you may contact the buyer and have him or her resend the payment as follows: (a) click the Send Money tab, (b) select "Goods," and (c) provide a shipping address.
If this payment was a personal payment such as a gift, then we have requested that the sender find another payment method until we restore personal payments to and from India.

We are trying to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and we're sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you,
PayPal
My Paypal is currently -$207.5 so how can i get that funds back for now as a service payment instead of personal payment? just for now i have also opened a support ticket on this issue.

My Scriptlance account is showing $0 balance, and my paypal is $-207 how can i get back that money. Please guide

I will withdraw funds from payoneer from next time.

Thanks
EWandy

Thumbs down

Although I'm not from India, when I read this story elsewhere on the Internet I signed up for the SL forums to post about it, because I know that many of the programmers on SL are from India.

I can imagine this issue causing a lot of inconvenience for freelancers in India, and I think it would have been much better if the PayPal customer service representatives had posted details about the questions that they're trying to address. This type of information blackout doesn't befit PayPal, a company that plays such an important role in processing international transactions related to ecommerce.

It would be interesting to have feedback from SL programmers in India about how badly they're being affected by this issue.

Paypal seems to be having some problem in India and all the payments made to and from India for personal reasons are being reversed by the site. We realized it when the payments made yesterday were reversed without any request or notce!

Ya, that is serious and I hope Paypal resolve this at the earliest as there are numerous indians who are solely dependent on Paypal.

cheers

We have given them so much business and they suddenly turned their back to us. I have used Payoneer b4 which seems fine. But the main problem here is the funds which PayPal reversed to Scriptlance. i wanna know will we get those funds back?

Thanks

Paypal asking apology in this issue, and they said they are trying to resolve this issue, quote from their mail:

We expect to have this issue resolved within the next few days. In the meantime, we’re going to restore the amount of your recent withdrawal into your PayPal balance so that you can know your money is safe in your account. You should see the balance restored within 24 hours. In addition, you will see a reimbursement of any withdrawal fees charged. We will ensure that you are not adversely affected by currency fluctuations during the last week.

In your transaction log, you will soon see that your PayPal withdrawal request has been reversed. We ask that you wait to submit another bank withdrawal request until we have addressed the processing issue. We will contact you again in a few days with an update and, if the issue is resolved, you can initiate another withdrawal at that time. In the meantime, you will have the ability to spend your balance to purchase goods or services if you choose.

Which amount is being restored, the one they refunded to us or some other transaction that they're referring to ?

OK PayPal just reversed the funds i have withdrawn and the strange part is that i have withdrwn $207 and they reserved $191 so my account is still in -$15 I don't know why. But can Scriptlance staff tell me what about the funds PayPal reversed to them. Coz those funds still not credited in my Scriptlance account. Please send them back to my Scriptlance account so i can withdraw them from payoneer.

Really bad news but i'm not surprised. Paypal blocked incoming payments for ukrainians long time ago, we can only spend money from verified bank account, no incoming payments ever. At the same time Russia can use Paypal in full (and that's also surprising 'cause both countries abused Paypal in the same way years ago ).
Paypal have strict policy and i suspect they will not restore blacklisted country (at least not very soon), so be prepared to move funds to your bank accounts and use another payment processor.

May be some financial law issues, dont know, anyways now pypal saying: Within the next 24 hours, you will also see a separate PayPal reimbursement for any withdrawal fees charged and variance in the foreign exchange rate over the last week. This should ensure that you will not be adversely affected by currency fluctuations during the last week.

so hope nobody 'loose' $$

cheers

Default Paypal withdrawal to India

Even though PayPal suspended withdrawals to banks in India, it still processed payments to those who have US Bank accounts. I got few PayPal (personal & premier) withdrawals to my US bank account yesterday.
